The Volunteer Trustee Development Network supports the work of volunteer trustees and directors.
A Volunteer Policy is the main foundation that all the other building blocks for volunteering sit on. Your policy will outline clearly to all staff, volunteers and users of the service, why volunteers are involved. Also, if you’re thinking about involving volunteers for the first time it’s a great place to start so you can think through all aspects of involving volunteers.
A Volunteer Role Description tells potential volunteers all they need to know about the opportunity to work with your organisation. Writing one makes you think about exactly what the role should be, and is a useful exercise to do before advertising any volunteer role. You can download a template that will assist you to include all the relevant and necessary information. You will need this information to post an opportunity online.
