Join Stuart Garland, Learning Capacity Building Manager at Volunteer Ireland, along with Waterford and Wexford Volunteer Centres for this session.

This practical session, informed by guidance from Volunteer Ireland, explores what makes an effective volunteer policy and how to embed best practice across the volunteer journey.

Participants will learn how to develop clear, fit-for-purpose policies, strengthen recruitment and support processes, manage risk, and create a positive volunteer experience.

Ideal for volunteer coordinators, managers and board members seeking to improve consistency, reduce risk and enhance volunteer engagement.

To give participants practical knowledge and tools to:

  • Understand what a volunteer policy should include

  • Identify best practice across the volunteer lifecycle

  • Spot gaps in their current approach

  • Take away 2–3 clear actions for improvement

Do you know any community leaders who might be interested? Or a business owner eager to reduce their environmental impact and support their community? Perhaps there is someone who is genuinely passionate about exploring more sustainable practices?

If this sounds like you, someone you know or you need more information, please reach out to us with your expression of interest.

Participants from Waterford City will have priority, but depending on availability, there may be additional spaces for participants from Waterford County.

If you participate in and complete the program, you will be eligible to use this as a pledge for the Business Pledges. Limited spaces available.
