Mincéirí Port Láirge

Mincéiri Port Lairge is committed to the improvement of equality and human rights for the Waterford Traveller Community. 

Working one to one with young Waterford City Traveller students, the volunteer will support the student in enhancing their literacy skills using the Catch-Up Literacy Programme.

No prior teaching experience is required as training will be provided before starting.

We are looking for volunteers who can:

• Deliver literacy lessons using unconditional positive regard for the young person.
• Ensure literacy progress for the young person is tracked and recorded.
• Support the student in setting and achieving literacy targets.
• Create a warm, non judgmental environment that supports the young person’s confidence and self esteem as a learner.
